WATER-BASED INKS

PROBLEM ONE: Excessive temperature differences within ocean-going containers cause water-based inks to clump, delaminate, deteriorate, or experience poor storage stability.

● SOLUTION ONE:

1. It is strongly recommended to use temperature-controlled cabinets for ocean shipping to avoid product quality damage caused by diurnal temperature variations in ordinary containers.

2. Packaging must be strictly sealed to prevent moisture evaporation or external contamination.

3. Viscosity testing and double quality inspection must be conducted before export to ensure the product condition meets standards upon shipment.


PROBLEM  TWO: Mistakenly assuming "water-based" equals "non-dangerous goods," but it was found to be dangerous goods, leading to a violation of the declaration as general cargo.

● SOLUTION  TWO:

1. Not all water-based inks are general cargo. Some water-based inks may contain ingredients harmful to the aquatic environment to improve performance, thus being classified as Class 9 dangerous goods (UN3082).

2. The nature of the goods must be determined based on a professional "Certificate of Cargo Transport Conditions." If the report concludes that the goods contain "environmentally hazardous substances," then export declaration and transportation must be strictly carried out according to dangerous goods procedures.


PROBLEM THREE: Customers report slow ink drying, poor adhesion, and insufficient water/abrasion resistance (although mostly application-related, these issues can affect repurchase and claims for exported products).

● SOLUTION THREE:

1. Slow Drying: We recommend customers add drying equipment (such as hot air or infrared), or add appropriate fast-drying agents.

2. Poor Adhesion: Confirm whether the substrate (such as plastic or metal) has undergone pretreatment such as corona or flame treatment, or recommend customers use a dedicated adhesion promoter.

3. Poor Resistance: Ensure the ink is completely dry before subsequent processes, or suggest adding crosslinking agents and abrasion-resistant resins to the ink to improve the physical properties of the film after formation.
